What Customers Say About Rome: Total War Gold Edition:

The basic controls are easy to learn, while the advanced controls are there as well. If I could give it 4 and a half, I definitely would. The only complaint I have is a very minor one: the graphics. The game is set during one of the most interesting time periods in ancient history, the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. However, when it was made it had decent graphics compared to the other games of the time period (around 2002, I think).

I really enjoyed this game for two reasons: the historical elements, and the strategy. As for strategy games, this is one of the best in my opinion. This appeals to both the casual and competitive gamers, making the game well-rounded. Thus, I give 5* for fun and 4* overall because of the graphics. Rome: Total War is a strategy game developed by The Creative Assembly, and is one of the most popular games in the Total War franchise.

I really loved learning about this in school, so playing a computer game based on it was a blast. This is not the prettiest game ever made.

For whatever other elements you're seeking out of a medieval strategy game, consult the other reviews - but for me, use to higher-end games - this barely kept my interest from the start. Maybe I'm not too tolerant of oldies I simply hadn't grown up with, but this game seems overwhelmingly awful. It feels like it was made at the transition between dinky Caesar city-sim games and the first of the Civilization series. Knights of Honor, very much like this game in design, is way better. It's as simple as that. I know there're good reviews all over for it, but for me, it didn't make the cut. Battle controls are difficult and restrictive, graphics are moderately-pleasing but unnecessary extravagant in the tactical map and very sub-par in the info boxes. The game offers no tutorial, crashes often, has extremely few playable factions, uninteresting play options and awkward turns.

If you have a little patience and want to immerse yourself into the Roman War era then this is the game for you. Nothing is more fun than building an immense army and then slaughtering the enemy from a massive attack on all sides- then chasing down and butchering the last remnants of your foe in order to send a clear message of fear to all those who oppose you. If you're looking for a realistic and in depth war/strategy game then look no further. Not an easy game at first, but unlike anything else I have ever played.

The biggest problem is tearing yourself away from the computer. The mix of turn based and RTS components helps to make this a complete game. What a great game. If you are into strategy games this is a must. Lots of content - I would highly recommend it.

The game does not seem to have any bug for windows XP if you keep all graphics at default. The game is highly realistic in the battle i.e. Probably one of the best RTS (Real time stategy) games I have ever played rivaled only by halo wars. men run when the are scared, men get tired and elephant and othe scary units scare your men into retreating.if youare obsessed with rome I would get this product.
